Sophomore Kyler Kotsakis had 10 kills and three blocks and fellow sophomore Paulie Bischoff distributed 24 assists as Glenbard West defeated Lake Park 26-24, 25-19 in the third-place match Saturday at the IHSA Boys State Volleyball Tournament at Hoffman Estates.
After earning a hard-fought, 25-22 decision in Game 1 against St. Francis, the Hilltoppers never looked back in Game 2, decisively winning 25-16 on Friday to advance to Tuesday’s title match against Naperville Central.
Wheaton Co-op left no doubt in Hinsdale Central’s gym on Friday night, winning its third consecutive state title with 161.55 points, easily ahead of the eight-team field. Runner-up Stevenson edged third place Lyons 153.7 to 153.65.

Paulie Bischoff overcame a 102 degree fever he had earlier in the week to record 28 assists, five kills and seven digs Thursday, leading Glenbard West to a 18-25, 25-20, 30-28 victory over host Downers South.
