Prairie Ridge pitcher Austin Covers went to Plan B on Saturday, relied on his team to get the lead back, then dispatched Jacobs on three hits for a 4-1 victory and the school’s first sectional title since winning the state crown in 2008.
After hitting the first two batters of the game, Reilly Peltier settled down and allowed one hit 6 1/3 innings with 11 strikeouts to lead Jacobs to a 7-1 victory over Hononegah on Wednesday.

South Elgin's Andre Norasith's switch from doubles back to singles resulted in a title at the Jacobs sectional on Saturday. The host Eagles claimed the team title.
Jacobs made a kind gesture of sportsmanship on the opening kick but Huntley took no mercy on the Golden Eagles thereafter, as the Red Raiders rolled to a 7-0 Fox Valley Valley win Thursday.
The Benet school record in the discus lasted all of 11 days. Stephen Hubona not only extended his program best to almost 190 feet but also increased his state-leading status among Class 3A boys track and field throwers with his winning effort Saturday at the Bolingbrook Invite.
