Touchdown catches from Tevin Newman and Deonta Moses gave Thornridge a 14-0 lead in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Joliet West responded with a grinding second-half ground attack led by Jordan Brown (233 yards, 2 touchdowns) and his 36 carries to run away with the game.
West stopped a Thornridge 2-point conversion after a 28-yard touchdown catch from David Salami to hold a 28-27 advantage. The Tigers then scored three consecutive touchdowns in the final 7:06 to balloon the lead.
West’s Niko Messino converted fourth downs into 37- and 20-yard touchdown receptions from quarterback Anthony DiNardo (18-of-26, 244 yards) in the second quarter. Messino finished with seven catches for 145 yards.

Hakeem Allen had two interceptions for West (1-0). Thornridge (0-1) quarterback Dajon Torrence went 17-of-46 for 327 yards and three touchdowns. Moses (three catches, 103 yards) added a 90-yard kick return for a score.
