Mount Carmel (3-0) picked up an easy win as it controlled Bishop McNamara in all phases of the game at Gately Stadium.

The Caravan jumped ahead from the get-go as Matt Domer returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. The Irish made their best attempt to respond but couldn’t seem to get anything going after running back Jonathan Ward left the game because of injury after rushing for 48 yards on their first drive.

Running back Jimmy Mickens rushed 10 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns for Mount Carmel. Quarterback Marko Boricich rushed for a score and threw for one to tight end Brendan Griffin.

Mount Carmel’s defense held the Irish to 122 yards of total offense, forced three turnovers and limited them to just three third-down conversions.

“Consistency is more important than greatness. Anyone can have a great play, a great game, a great season. We’re looking to get better every game we play.” — Mount Carmel Coach Frank Lenti
