With postseason meets fast approaching, Morris Co-op coach Andrew Porth is starting to see times fall into place at just the right part of the season.
Morris will compete Saturday at the upcoming Independent Conference meet at Riverside-Brookfield and the Lockport Sectional.
“The season has been really good for us,” Porth said. “We’re seeing the kids compete, and they are doing their best to drop their times. We’re seeing some low times.”
The Morris Co-op team consists of swimmers from Morris, Minooka, Coal City and Seneca, 35 swimmers in all. Porth credited Jennifer Ashley (200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly), Reilly Chytraak (200, 500-yard freestyle) and Kelly Kolotka for their strong performances.
Morris will also compete Nov. 8 at the Boiler Tune-Up at Bradley.
“That’s the meet we go out, try and get your best time, get on the podium with a personal best,” Porth said. “With your best times and best efforts, we want to keep seeing that.”
