Becky Bartnicki's double-double leads Guerin past Walther Lutheran

THE SKINNY

Guerin used a fast start to build a big lead and cruised past Walther Lutheran 44-25 in a nonconference road game in Melrose Park.

TURNING POINT

The Gators (2-3) scored the first 12 points of the game and led 12-1 after one quarter of play. The Broncos (1-5) didn't register their first field goal until Dana Turner hit a bucket with 5 minutes, 50 seconds to play in the second.

THE STAR

Guerin's Becky Bartnicki dominated the game in just about every aspect. The 6-foot senior finished with a game-high 18 points while shooting 8-for-12 from the floor. She also had 14 rebounds and five blocks.

BY THE NUMBERS

Walther Lutheran had a tough night shooting as it went 9-for-47 from the floor. Turner led the Broncos with 12 points. Guerin shot 19-for-43 as Daisy Miranda contributed 10 points. Trevi Matthews and Amy Lorenz added six points apiece for the Gators.
