Herald-News’ three things to know

Logan Malloy lists three things you should know about area wrestling.

1. Lincoln-Way Central is a force. There were some question marks heading into the season after the state’s fourth-place team graduated a slew of contributors, but the Knights (9-1) haven’t lost a step. The team has earned notable wins over Minooka, Plainfield Central and Hinsdale Central this season.

2. Watch out for Danny Saracco. Plainfield South’s 182-pound sophomore won the Southwest Prairie Tournament as a freshman but had his postseason derailed because of a concussion. Saracco, a starting linebacker on the varsity football team, is unbeaten this season.

3. Coal City is a tournament team. With just six returning starters, the Coalers might take some early lumps in dual matches. Tournament time is when they can shine, as Cody Minnick, Casey Brown and Corey Jurzak all were Class 1A state finalists last year and can rack up points in a tournament-style format.
