Burlington Central went on a 38-8 run to end the first half en route to a 71-26 win over Genoa-Kingston on Friday. Six players scored at least eight points for the undefeated Rockets.

The Skinny

Still perfect. Burlington Central improved to 8-0 on the season after a dominating 71-26 victory Friday over Genoa-Kingston in Big Northern Conference play. The Rockets controlled the tempo on both sides of the ball.

Turning Point

With the game tied at eight at the five-minute mark of the first quarter, Burlington Central put together a 38-8 run to end the first half.

The Star

Sophomore guard Shelby Holt led Burlington Central with 13 points, including 11 of the Rockets’ 24 first-quarter points. Allison Colby and Rebecca Gerke added 11 points each for the Rockets.

By The Numbers

In what was truly a balanced team effort, Burlington Central had at least eight points from six players and nine of the 10 players that played for the Rockets scored. Genoa-Kingston (2-5) was led by Andrea Strohmaier with 11 points.

“We had so much energy on offense and that is what I felt was the key to victory. Defensively we were all over the place and created a lot of turnovers that lead to points. I’m very proud of how the girls played. This was a great win.” – Burlington Central coach Mark Smith
