Evan Boudreaux of Lake Forest finished with 25 points in a 52-38 win over Gordon Tech at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York.

One big man is not going to stop Lake Forest star Evan Boudreaux by himself.

Gordon Tech was the latest team to find that out.

In an intriguing matchup of junior centers, the 6-8 Boudreaux had his way with Gordon Tech’s 6-6  Raequan Williams, getting him in early foul trouble and then feasting inside en route to scoring a game-high 25 points.

That helped Lake Forest pull away late and beat the Rams 52-38 on Friday in the second round of York’s 40th annual Jack Tosh Holiday Classic.

“Our game plan was to go after [Williams],” Lake Forest coach Phil LaScala said.  “He’s a nice player so we wanted to go after him, just like they wanted to go after Evan.

“I thought Evan did a really good job of attacking and getting them out of their style when they had to go smaller and when they went smaller we really attacked inside.”

But it took longer than expected. Williams, who had four points and four rebounds, picked up two quick fouls and the Scouts grabbed an early 10-3 lead.

The Rams (7-4) stayed in it thanks to their outside shooting as Octavius Parker sank four three-pointers and Chris Flores two more. Gordon Tech led by a point several times in the third quarter, but then Boudreaux dunked and drew the fourth foul on Williams.

Boudreaux tallied 17 of his points in the second half, including nine in the fourth quarter when Williams, Flores and 6-5 forward David Holiday all fouled out.

“I think getting their big man in foul trouble was huge,” Boudreaux said. “They didn’t have a lot of big guys coming off the bench. Our team executed really well in those situations too.”

The Scouts, who have won six straight, outscored the Rams 23-9 down the stretch, though they appreciate how tough it was to do so.

“They’re a really good team,” Boudreaux said. “We give a lot of credit to them. They made us battle for it the whole game. We had to play a 32-minute game to beat them.”

Cal Miller scored six of his nine points during the closing run, while Jack Traynor and Dave Roberts both added six points for the Scouts. Parker led Gordon Tech with 14 points, though only three came in the second half.
