With five seconds remaining, John Pruett took the inbounds pass and drove from the backcourt to the free-throw line and dished to a wide-open Tyler Carlson who converted the layup with less than a second remaining. Austin Patterson of Morris heaved a 50-footer at the buzzer that bounced off the rim in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East thriller.
First Pruett missed the front end of a bonus free throw that would have tied the score with nine seconds to play and then Evan Bjelland missed the front end of a bonus free-throw shortly thereafter for Morris (10-3, 2-1) to set up the winning play.
Both Pruett and Carlson starred for the victors. Carlson scored a game-high18 points and Pruett added 14 points and eight rebounds.

``The coaches told me that I had a chance to redeem myself after that missed free throw. I didn’t know if I was going to shoot or pass before the play. I just let that happen.’’ -Pruett
