Host De La Salle held an 11-point lead in the first half but held off one Providence comeback after another in the Catholic League South win Friday.
The Meteors opened the fourth with a 41-32 lead but watched Providence cut the deficit to 41-38 with 4:50 to go. Karl Harris (nine points) scored inside on a no-look pass from Brandon Hutton on the following De La Salle possession. After a Hutton free throw, Aaron Jones (10 points) hit a corner three-pointer for the Meteors (8-9, 5-3) to turn the tide for good.
The 6-5 junior Hutton finished with 12 points for De La Salle.
