Nazareth Academy 58, Wheaton Academy 41
It took a day longer than planned after a power failure postponed Thursday's game in the fourth quarter with 7 minutes, 7 second left. By then, Nazareth (18-12) had a 44-28 lead over Wheaton Academy (16-10). The Roadrunners returned on Friday and withstood an aggressive attack by the Warriors by clamping down on defense to secure the 3A Timothy Christian Regional title with a 58-41 win.
After a Warriors' timeout with 5:06 left in the third, Roadrunners senior forward Tetre'Anah Cross missed a close shot, grabbed her own rebound and made the ensuing outback while drawing a foul. She completed the 3-point play to give the Roadrunners a 29-21 lead, which sparked a 16-4 run.
Cross was a consistent force in the paint on offense and defense. She finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. She was 7-of-7 from the linel.
