Looking to go into the state playoffs on a hot streak, Thornton (17-5, 10-2) rolled over Lincoln-Way North in the SouthWest Suburban Red game in Harvey. Thornton earned the No. 3 seed at its own sectional and will play at the Lincoln-Way Central Sectional.
Defense leading to offense, the Wildcats went up 15-6 early and 17-10 through one quarter off North turnovers as Justin Taylor scored 10 points in the first, Da’Marques Turner (13 points) adding five points.
Taylor. The senior forward finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Thornton.

Lincoln-Way North (3-19, 1-11) committed 11 first half turnovers, including six in the first quarter. The Phoenix were led by Jaylen Branch’s 11 points and six rebounds with Kenny Christensen adding seven points off the bench. Robert McCalley scored 13 points off the bench for Thornton as 11 different players scored for the Wildcats.
