THE SKINNY

After an even first half of play, Lake Zurich (6-1) took charge in the final 40 minutes Saturday en route to a 1-0 victory over Oswego (4-3-2) in the PepsiCo Showdown at Olympic Park in Schaumburg. Nearly the entire second half was spent in Oswego territory.

TURNING POINT

The Bears struck at the midway point of the second half. A low drive by Katie Fabbrini was turned aside by Oswego goaltender Amelia Annala before Lake Zurich's Jordan Jackson pounced on the rebound from point-blank range to score.

THE STAR

Jackson had five shots on goal, including a shot from just outside the penalty area that just slid over the crossbar. She leads the Bears this season with three goals.

BY THE NUMBERS

Eleanor Daleske recorded the shutout for Lake Zurich, making six saves. The biggest one came early in the first half when she punched away an Oswego shot that was headed into the top corner. Annala registered nine saves for the Panthers, including three sprawling stops in the first 28 minutes to keep the Bears at bay. Lake Zurich forward Nicole Rasiarmos challenged the Oswego defense throughout the contest.

QUOTABLE

"I knew that I had to get that one into the back of the net. It was definitely a good feeling." — Jordan Jackson
