1. On the mend. Aurora Christian senior Jonah Walker has made tremendous strides since suffering a serious shoulder injury in the football season. He has one of the top marks in the discus in the state for Class 3A after establishing a new school record with his winning effort of 169 feet, 3 inches. Walker, a Southwest Minnesota State football recruit, is a returning All-Stater in the discus. He also made the finals but did not place two years ago in the shot put.
2. Still ailing. Aurora Central Catholic junior hurdler-sprinter Patrick Lefevre was hoping to make his return Wednesday at the Suburban Christian Conference championship. But out almost three weeks with a quad injury to his left leg, he could not answer the bell. “I tried to warm up, but it was a no-go,” said Lefevre, a 2A All-Stater in the 110 high hurdles.
3. Oswego East 3,200 relay on form. With champion 300 hurdler Justin Agustin and standout 800 specialist Mike Delaney running bookend legs, the Wolves’ 3,200 relay ? — which also features Tyler McQuality and Charles Thornton — won its second straight invitational in as many weeks with a season-best 7-minute, 57.59-second effort last weekend at Bolingbrook. Agustin broke 40 to win his fourth straight weekend meet in the 300 intermediates.
