Notre Dame, Evanston to face off in regional final

Notre Dame held on for a 3-1 win over Taft and Evanston took care of offensively challenged Lincoln Park 6-2 on Wednesday to advance to Saturday's Class 4A regional final at Notre Dame.

Morgan Park used a four-run fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie en route to an 8-4 victory in the Public League final Saturday at Curtis Granderson Stadium at UIC. The victory marks the Mustangs' first Public League title.

Deondre Ward (152 pounds) and Antoine Cobb (170) claimed championships Sunday to help Simeon win its first Public League title, 213-184 over Taft. Lane (157 points), defending champ Bowen (113.5) and Amundsen (102) rounded out the top five teams.
