Montini, Harvard dominate Antioch Sectional

Montini routed Westinghouse 60-12 and Harvard rolled Lakes 57-12 as both teams qualified for the Class 2A quarterfinals this weekend in Bloomington. Montini had five pins, while Harvard pinned four of its opponents.

Dorothy Gaters moved one game closer to earning her 1,000th as a coach thanks to Marshall’s 69-45 over Westinghouse in a Class 3A Westinghouse regional semifinal. Gaters now stands two wins short of becoming the first basketball coach in Illinois history, boys or girls, to have 1,000 career wins.

Ashawn Jones’ big night helps Farragut remain in Red-West

Ashawn Jones scored a game-high 26 points and added nine rebounds, four steals and two blocks as Farragut withstood a furious Westinghouse rally for a 69-61 victory Monday. The win keeps the Admirals in the Red-West, while Westinghouse will drop to the White-West next season.
