Lorelei Tokarczyk smashed a fourth-inning grand slam Tuesday to help lift Joliet West to an 11-1 victory against Plainfield CentralClass 4A Andrew Sectional semifinal.
Manteno shortstop Carly Trepanier broke a 1-1 tie with her first over-the-fence home run to lift the Panthers to a 3-2 win over Lockport in the Providence Invite title game Saturday.

Marist starts the season as the SouthtownStar’s top-ranked team, but will be challenged to keep its spot at the top by teams like Sandburg, Providence and Lincoln-Way West.
While her teammates were crushing the ball to the tune of a record-setting 19 hits, Minooka's Sara Novak was dominant in the circle as the Indians crushed St. Charles East 14-3 in six innings in the 4A state title game Saturday at EastSide Centre.
Despite suffering a fracture to the left side of her face during warmups in early May, Jordyn Larsen continues to play for Minooka, helping guide the team on a deep playoff run.
After struggling through an inconsistent 16-8 regular season, Minooka was able to flip the switch come playoff time and win its first ever sectional title. The Indians will play for the Class 4A Normal Supersectional Monday at 6 p.m. against Normal West.
Minooka scored all four runs in the first inning and held off Plainfield Central 4-2 for the Class 4A Lincoln-Way East Sectional title Saturday. It is the first sectional title in the program's history.

Max Strus poured in 34 points Tuesday to lead Stagg to a 66-57 win over Richards in a Class 4A Shepard Regional semifinal. The loss officially ended the career of Richards coach John Chappetto, who announced his resignation Friday upon completion of the season.
