While her teammates were crushing the ball to the tune of a record-setting 19 hits, Minooka's Sara Novak was dominant in the circle as the Indians crushed St. Charles East 14-3 in six innings in the 4A state title game Saturday at EastSide Centre.
After struggling through an inconsistent 16-8 regular season, Minooka was able to flip the switch come playoff time and win its first ever sectional title. The Indians will play for the Class 4A Normal Supersectional Monday at 6 p.m. against Normal West.
Minooka scored all four runs in the first inning and held off Plainfield Central 4-2 for the Class 4A Lincoln-Way East Sectional title Saturday. It is the first sectional title in the program's history.
